Albufeira old town, Algarve, Portugal

Albufeira is a town and district in the Algarve, southern Portugal. Paid my first visit in March 2018. The weather was unexpectedly cold but with bright sunshine. Albufeira town is very hilly, especially the old town. The roads all lead down to the main square. The buildings are mostly white. Most of the shops cater to tourists and there is an abundance of cafes, restaurants and bars.

The main square -

Portuguese beer

To get down to the main beach, there are escalators at the east side and a 10 storey lift at the west side.

"Fisherman beach" (Praia dos Pescadores). I imagine it is packed in the summer -

And looking the other way, west, is Praia do Peneco with sandstone caves and the lift -

The tourist train does a circuit around the area with 4 stops. Although it doesn't go to the old town, it goes to the hill top by the escalators down to Fisherman Beach. Euro 5 gives you a day pass and you can ride it as many times as you like.
All the buildings have chimneys and I love the way they are all different and quite artistic

Though I'm not sure if this is a normal chimney.

My next blog will  be on food!
