Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations & Paddington bear

 Queen Elizabeth's platinum jubilee celebrations were held over 4 days from 2-5 June 2022. They were to celebrate 70 years on the throne as the British monarch and head of the Commonwealth. The events over the 4 days were really special and quite fantastic.

I'm not going into details here but just want to mention one of my favourite bits - and it also grabbed the attention of much of the media as it was on the front page of many of the Sunday newspapers. It was on the 3rd day, just before the evening concert started and we were shown a video of the Queen having tea with Paddington bear.

It was full page of the Sunday Mail and Telegraph

And appeared in smaller boxes on the front page of other Sunday papers

And the other very clever clip was the Queen played ‘We will rock you’ on a tea cup with Paddington, which effectively opened the concert as Brian May began the show. See a video.

I always liked Paddington. See my blog when his creator Michael Bond died.

The concert was really good with so many different acts, and Buckingham Palace was used as an enormous "Imax" screen. Towards the end of the evening concert, there was a very creative drone show above the palace, in which 400 drones created symbols of the Queen, including a giant corgi, a cup of tea, the Queen’s handbag, beefeaters, a rose and a postage stamp bearing her profile.
