Total lunar eclipse - blood moon - 2025 Sept

On the evening of 7 Sept 2025 there was a total lunar eclipse, UK time. It was the longest total lunar eclipse since 2022. Although it was visible in the UK, the moon didn't rise until after 7.30 pm by which time the maximum eclipse had passed. Also it was cloudy and the moon wasn't visible until 8.30 pm.

A lunar eclipse is known as a blood moon, although didn't appear red by the time I saw it. The sun, earth and the moon align in a straight line, with sunlight casting a reddish-brown hue on the moon.
