Battambang photos, 2008

During our caving expedition in June 2008, we stayed in Battambang in northwest Cambodia. Battambang is actually Cambodia's 2nd largest city, but it is a quiet laid back place, with no real high rise buildings, no shopping centres - in fact not even any small supermarkets. The old colonial architecture dates back to the French period. This is the museum -

Battambang town has seen little change since my visit in 2004. Even then there was an abundance of handphone shops. I did see that the grocers and small minimart are no longer there in 2008.
