USA - Bath, New Hampshire

We crossed into New Hampshire from Vermont. New Hampshire is one of six states in the New England region. Our first stop was at Bath. I used to work in the City of Bath in (old) England! Sign from the war memorial -

This shop is apparently the oldest shop in the USA but has refently closed as it has been sold. (Wikipedia - The Brick Store claims to be the oldest continuously operating general store in the United States)

We didn't have much time, so instead of going into the church, I went to see the covered bridge

Covered bridges are/were quite common in New Hampshire. There used to be 400, 54 have survived. From Wikipedia A covered bridge is a timber-truss bridge with a roof and siding which, in most covered bridges, create an almost complete enclosure. The purpose of the covering is to protect the wooden structural members from the weather. Uncovered wooden bridges have a lifespan of only 10 to 15 years because of the effects of rain and sun.

View from one of the windows on the bridge -
I walked through the 374 ft long bridge to the other side. Not sure what this sign means -

Nice view looking upstream of the Ammonoosuc River -

and downstream -

A Trump supporter -
Cars still use the bridge, there is one pedestrian walkway at the side
