From Littleton, we started to drive through the White Mountains. From Wikipedia - The White Mountains are a mountain range covering about a quarter of the state of New Hampshire and a small portion of western Maine in the United States. They are part of the northern Appalachian Mountains and the most rugged mountains in New England.
We were there at the right time as the foliage was changing colours and the views were stunning.
Mount Washington is the highest peak in the Northeastern United States at 6,288 ft (1,917 m) . We went up to Marshfield base station, from where a
cog railway goes up Mt Washington. From Wikipedia - The Mount Washington Cog Railway is the world's first mountain-climbing cog railway (rack-and-pinion railway).
We were just in time to see 3 trains leave.
We continued on our way, stopping to take photos of the Mount Washington Resort -
The autumn colours got better as we continued our journey. We stopped at a waterfall although there wasn't much water -
We were in the Crawford Notch state park. Our next stop was at a lake by the Willey historic house.
That evening we stayed near North Conway.
