Austrian Tirol winter wonderland

I love snow. January 2018 I went to the Austrian Tirol to see some. Luckily they had a lot of snow a week before, so it was all really pretty and scenic. We stayed in a very small village called Radfeld, which is next to Rattenberg, and close to the main autobahn and railway Innsbruck to Salzburg. The hotel and view from -

We went for a ride on the Zillertel, which is one of Austria's most famous narrow railways. The trains used to be steam and some of those still run, but not the day we visited. We boarded at Jenbach and went to Mayrhofen through the Ziller Valley.

Mayrhofen is a ski resort

Lunch was at Fugen, a bigger ski resort. Many places in Austria keep their Christmas decorations up until Candlemas 2 Feb, these were in the restaurant -

After lunch we went up the cable car to Mountain Loft Spieljoch at 1858 m. It as all so beautiful and was surprisingly warm up at the top as the sun was shining.

 I've grown.........

I used to ski but now can only look on enviously. There were various ski lifts on this mountain.

Huts with hats -

Next blog will be Salzburg.
