Rattenberg in Austrian Tirol

Rattenberg is the smallest town in Tirol/Tyrol. It was founded in the 14th century and has a fortress. The town is right beside the River Inn that flows to Innsbruck.

The town lies immediately to the north of Rat Mountain and receives no sunlight in the winter. So not only was it low light to take photos, it was also quite cold walking around. I was quite fascinated by the architecture so took a lot of photos, even though the light wasn't good.

I was amused by the pile of snow left at the base of the road sign -

Interesting doors to houses, they look quite low

Rattenberg is now known for glass making with factories and shops. The medieval pedestrian zone is dominated by the glass shops. We went to one and were given a demonstration of glass blowing. Of greater interest to me is the fact that part of the complex is built into a natural cave. One area has been designed as a fantasy place -

Water still seeps into the room. Another room is smaller

I didn't have time to visit the museum or explore other caves.
