Tourism offices
The Tourism Ministry announced that tourism offices abroad will be closed down if they don’t bring in enough tourists to the country.
I wonder how they ascertain how many tourists come to Malaysia as a result of visiting a tourist office overseas.
However, I would like to point out that the tourist office in London is always very dull and looks uninteresting from the outside. Malaysia House is located in a prime spot in the heart of London at Trafalgar Square but from the outside there is little to see to tempt one to go in.
There are small posters of Malaysia in each window, and that is all.
I pass the office about twice a year, and even during a Visit Malaysia year, the display is little better.
Surely by simply livening up the window display, people would be encouraged to step inside and see what is on offer?
But as it stands, I would imagine many people would just walk by.
